We've reached the culmination of scientism

Job is my favorite book of the Bible. Though Job causes some people to doubt, for me the opposite is the case. In fact, Job planted the seed of faith in my heart before I became a Christian.

For those who doubt God because science supposedly explains all there is to know about the world, reading Job reminds us of how little we really understand.

Job was also very important to me during a critical time in my life when Satan attacked and tried to steal my spiritual identity. God revealed the demon Leviathan in Job, which was behind the torment, attempting to make me conform to another image besides my unique identity in Christ. Leviathan is not a physical creature as some pastors claim, but a spiritual entity.

Satan fools people by disguising himself as an angel of light. These days he often cloaks himself in "science," as postmodern people hold "scientists" in high regard. Questioning "science" is now as blasphemous as questioning the pope used to be in the Middle Ages.

The most pressing example is the COVID vaccine that has supposedly been developed in just a few months. Despite the questionable science behind creating a new vaccine that quickly, people who express concerns of this sort are labelled "science deniers." Obviously most people aren't interested in real science, then, but in the mere image of science that will permit them to return to their old idolatries.

One of my New Year's resolutions is to not take this alleged vaccine, which is really a thinly veiled demonic disguise for something much more sinister.

Should "success" be the goal of a Christian?

Dr. Charlton's post on success and failure resonates with my own experience.

Achieving Western culture's definition of success almost inevitably involves moral compromise...lying, cheating, or stealing in some capacity...making this type of success impossible for genuine Christians to achieve.

The legacy of a genuine Christian will most likely resemble the Apostle Paul's, who made a profound difference in the lives of everyone he encountered, though he lost his career and reputation after converting to Christianity.

Indeed, I have seen the following scenario happen time and again, different in detail but similar in its general pattern: the best people at any particular workplace...best in character and in the quality of their work...are eventually chased out by coworkers who gather against them in collective envy, or because these people in some vague sense don't "fit in."

Alternatively, anyone who speaks up about unfair and nonsensical policies while everyone else seems to enjoy exploitation is guaranteed to become the target of a smear campaign, then laid off at the first possible excuse...even if one needs to be invented.

In other words, if someone fits the postmodern ideal of success, he or she is probably a spiritual failure.

The chaff and the wheat

Sometimes a situation seems so sickeningly sweet on the surface, yet rings so hollow.

There's a postmodern trend of making evil appear cutesy. False Christians, in other words chaff or wolves in sheep's clothing, are very fond of this tactic. They're all about "love," which all too often means tolerating various forms of abuse. If you don't wear a mask in public, for example, you're accused of not "loving" your neighbor, even though mask wearing is proven to be ineffective against preventing illnesses of any sort.

With that in mind, why would people willingly continue to repeat this nonsensical and even harmful action? They go so far as to wear masks with floral patterns and catchy slogans, as if they enjoy the erosion of basic liberty, dignity, and humanity. What could possibly motivate such behavior?

Peer pressure...which is based upon fear, not love.

If a professing Christian genuinely can't see through the COVID masquerade, I wonder if he or she really has the Holy Spirit leading him or her to all truth. If someone believes himself or herself to be a Christian, yet doesn't really have the Holy Spirit, what becomes of such a person? Do they go to Heaven or Hell?

That question bothers me frequently because many Christians seem fake to me...Christian only by name.

The fool says in his heart, "There is no God."

Generally speaking, atheists aren't as smart as they pretend to be. The militant ones are nothing more than intellectual bullies who are choosing to be stubborn and blind. In response to articulate and reasonable arguments, they respond with snarky one-liners. In response to evidence, they either completely dismiss it or try to explain it away. Most of them are more interested in trolling than in seeking truth.

A prayer for the end days

God, please forgive me for becoming caught up in fear due to recent happenings in the world.

Thank You for little victories, such as all of the good people who are awake and speaking out in courage and truth.

Align my will with Your will. May I endure until the end, even if I am persecuted and martyred. Though I hope the rapture happens before then, may I keep following You even if not.

Thank You for the interests I have, and for helping me narrow down these interests to simplify my life so I may focus on You. May I yield good fruit. Please establish the work of my hands....
